The microprocessor controlled generator is extremely simple to operate, and is designed for student experiments in the laboratory. 
This new low cost generator covers the normal frequency range from 1 Hz to 50 000 Hz with just one regulation and a resolution of 1 Hz. In the low-frequency function from 0.05 Hz to 3 000 Hz, the frequency can be adjusted with 0.05 Hz resolution.
The user has the possibility to select sine, square or positive square as waveform. The output from the internal power amplifier is continuously adjustable with a separate knob in the range 0 to +- 12 V and can source up to 1 A. The amplifier is protected from overload, short circuit, induction voltages from coils as well as spark discharges. 
The generator is provided with two 4-mm sockets for the output. The low voltage supply for the generator is 12 V (230V or 115V mains adaptor is included).

The microprocessor controlled generator can be used alone or together with the PC.
This new generator does not have a frequency range switch. With just one knob, or by means of the PC interface, the frequency can be adjusted continuously within the whole range. The frequency range 0 to 130 kHz can be adjusted with a resolution of 1 or 2 Hz.
In the special frequency function from 0.10 to 40 Hz, the frequency can be adjusted with 0.01 Hz. The
user has the possibility to select sine, rectangle, triangle or positive square as waveform. The output impedance can be adjusted either to 50 ohms or 600 ohms.
Additionally the generator gives a separate TTL signal output.
The amplitude can be digitally adjusted alternatively in Vrms -, Vp - or Vpp voltage.
The frequency range from 1 to 130 kHz has a programmable sweep function that sweeps in steps of 1 to 10 kHz with step rate of 0.05 to 5 seconds.
The sweep function can be used e.g. with the microphone input for investigation of the amplitude characteristic as well as resonance phenomenon (data are analysed after the experiment by means of the PC). The generator is provided with BNC sockets in inputs and outputs.

The development of the apparatus is based on the well-known Prytz Oscillating Apparatus. 
The components are a Plexi-glass tube, inside which a helical spring is hanging from the top, with a bowl loaded with a circular magnet. Surrounding the tube, a vertically adjustable circular induction coil that connects to for example the Function Generator F12 or F50.

&lt;b&gt;In General:&lt;/b&gt; With the induction coil connected to the function generator, the helical spring pendulum is set to vibrate - longitudinal oscillations - that moves up through the spring and is reflected from the fixed point of the spring at the top. The spring-particles are now influenced by both the incoming and the reflected wave. For specific drive frequencies a resonance case builds up. This is recognized as a standing wave on the spring in form of easy recognizable distribution of knots and bows - contraction and expanding of the spring windings.
On the base of the apparatus there are three adjustment screws. When the spring-pendulum is fixed with the top bar on the tube, the adjustment screws are set, so that the spring-pendulum with bowl and magnet does not touch the tube.
The spring pendulum must oscillate free from the tube.

For the teachers convenience a display (4 digit 21 mm LED) is placed at the rear panel of the instrument.
Measuring modes:
Multimeter: Voltage ac and dc, current ac and dc, resistance in Ohm and kOhm.
Temperature meter: Thermocouple NiCr-Ni  (type K) input for measurements in a wide range from -40°C to +1200°C with display of temperature in °C or °K.
pH meter: BNC-input for pH-combination electrode in the range 0.00 to 14.00 pH. Temperature compensation is automatic (from temperature-meter input or from ambient temperature) or can be set manually from 0 to 50 °C. Both the buffer and the sensitivity (Nernst equation) is adjustable from the front-panel or through the PC interface.
